I was your mate… the kid across the street… the med. student at graduation… the mechanic in the corner garage… the baker who brought you bread… the gardener who cut your lawn… the clerk who sent your phone bill.

I was an Army private… a Naval commander… an Air Force bombardier. no man knows me… no name marks my tomb, for I am every Australian serviceman… I am the Unknown Soldier.

I died for a cause I held just in the service of my land… that you and yours may say in freedom… I am proud to be an Australian.

Lest We Forget

Over the next couple of weeks Knox LAC will be raising money for the Breast Cancer Network Australia culminating in a Pink Sports Day at our Cross Country Meet at Jells Park on the 8th of May 2021.

In 2021, it is predicted that 20,525 Australians will be diagnosed with breast cancer – an average of 57 people per day.

To help raise money for BCNA on the 8th of May, we will be asking for a Gold Coin donation per athlete and will be running a raffle with the prize of a Darryl Lea chocolate box donated by Nick Wakeling MP – member for Ferntree Gully.
Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5. Tickets will be on sale from our canteen this weekend and drawn on the 8th of May during the Under 6 race.

Our goal is to raise $500, so please donate now as this cause is one that is very close to home for some of our Knox Families.

A reminder that all families participating in cross country must do duty during the cross country season. Knox LAC uses an online registration portal to organise families for duty. The advantage is that families can book in advance for the week you want to do duty and you can also check to see whats available.

The link to the online registration portal is contained in each cross country calendar entry in the Knox LAC calendar. The link works for that specific date.

A number of spots are still required to be filled this Saturday. If you want to register for duty for this Saturday cross country at Jells Park South and get your required duty done early in the season click on the link https://volunteersignup.org/MDF88

Each Month over the summer track and field season Little Athletics Australia updates Centres on social media data. It helps us understand who is interacting with our centre Facebook page and other social media.

Below are some of the rankings for Little Athletic Centres nationally. Knox LAC as a centre is in the top 3 nationally in two of the categories (posted below) and we missed top spot in one of the categories by one post. These are great results for Knox LAC and shows a huge improvement over the summer, even with a shorter season and the commitment of our members and their families to stay engaged.
