Confirmation – Knox LAC Cross Country to Restart 19 June 2021 @ Jells Park South. First Race 8.30am

With the further easing of covid restrictions Knox LAC cross country will restart on the 19 June at Jells Park South. (Entry via Ferntree Gully Road)
We have obtained the necessary approval from Parks Victoria and it will be conducted in accordance with the covid safe protocols issued by LAVic and the Restricted Activity Directions.

LAVic have now released the protocols to centres on Friday afternoon and to comply with the protocols this Saturday the following applies.

  • Race start times will be in place.
  • Races will be in groups of 20 for each age group. (Multiple races will be run per age group where more than 20 athletes attend)
  • Athletes will be graded in to the appropriate group based on previous race times.
  • A group of 20 must finish their race prior to the next groups starting.
  • A marshalling area will be in place so that athletes can be put in their group before heading to the start line.
  • NAME PATCHES MUST BE WORN. Athletes without name patches on will not be permitted to run.
  • QR codes will be in place at the venue and all attendees must sign in
  • Only supervising parents and those necessary to run the event are permitted. No General Spectators
  • Siblings are permitted if other arrangements can’t be made.
  • Face masks must be carried by all those 12 and over. Social distancing will be enforced. If you cannot socially distance you will be asked to wear your mask.
  • CSO’s will be enforcing the covid protocols.

Race Order and Start Times
To reduce the impact of athletes gathering around start times will be implemented for each age group. The start times are as follows for this weekend.
8.30am U13 -U16
9.00am U7 – U8
9.30am U6
9.45am U11-12
10.30am U9-U10

Please note the earlier start time for the first event – it is an 8.30am start. Please arrive early.

Parent Duty
Parents duty will be in place and parent are required. If you have not done your duty this season you can sign up for duty this weekend here volunteersignup.org/H8W7J.

If you are on duty please sign in by 8.15 with announcing. A duty sign-in table will be setup.

Canteen and BBQ
There will be no canteen this weekend.

Calendar Updates
The Committee is working on some changes to the season calendar to accommodate the missed events. We will post the updated calendar once locations have been confirmed.

Wednesday Night Training – Reminder That Current Restrictions Are Still In Place

For those attending training tonight with Mike Kerr, training will start at 4.30pm

While the Victorian Government has announced easing of restriction from 11.59pm on Thursday, the current restrictions are still in place and following applies:

  • Everyone that enters the track must sign in. The QR will be available at the turnstile.
  • Covid Safety Officers will be in place to ensure protocols are being met.
  • In line with current restricted activity directions – Only registered Knox Little Athletes can attend.
  • Training will be in groups of 10 and groups will be separated while training.
  • Supervising parents are permitted to stay but must remain separated. – No other spectators are permitted.
  • In line with current health directions face masks must still be worn outdoors. All persons 12 and over at the track must wear a facemask. Athletes are not required to wear a mask while under taking training but must wear a mask at other times.
  • There will be no access to indoor areas other than to access toilets.

LAVic have sent out a memo this afternoon that advises further information on the resumption competition will be provided on Friday following the release of the detailed restricted activity directions.

We will provide advice on cross country competition as soon as we can provide it.

Reminder – Training Resumes Tonight from 4pm, Covid Safety Restrictions in Place.

Covid Update 11 June 2021- Training at Knox to Resume Monday 14 June and Return to Training Protocols

Following the easing of restrictions LAVic on Friday afternoon provided updated to protocols for the return to training.

Metro Melbourne restrictions
• Competition is not permitted.
• Training is permitted (outdoors only).
• Training is permitted with a maximum athlete group size of 10.
• All participants in training activities must be from the same Club/Centre. Training with another group, Centre or club during the restricted period is not permitted.
• The total number of members of the public at the facility at any time (excluding infants under one year of age) cannot exceed 100.
• Athletes, parents & volunteers are not permitted to travel more than 25 kilometres from their ordinary place of residence to attend training. Athletes, parents & volunteers whose ordinary place of residence is in Regional Victoria are not permitted to travel into Metro Melbourne for Little Athletics activities.
• Any shared equipment is to be cleaned between users.
• Access to indoor spaces (clubrooms, change rooms) is not permitted, except for access to toilets.
• No more than the minimum number of people required to conduct the training are permitted to be in attendance. This includes coaches, volunteers and supervising parents. General spectators are not permitted

In line with the above, the following will be in place at for training at Knox Little Athletics from Monday 14 June.

  • Knox LAC sanctioned training will resume from 4.30pm on Mondays and Wednesdays from 14 June
  • All attendees must sign in via the supplied QR code – this includes athletes, coaches and parents if they enter the venue. Manual sign in will be available.
  • Covid Safety Officers will be in place to ensure training protocols are being met.
  • All persons 12 and over entering the venue must wear a mask (unless you have a lawful reason to not wear one).
  • Note: It is still a current requirement that masks must be worn in outdoor areas at all times.
  • Athletes are not required to wear a mask while undertaking training activities. Once training has finished athletes must put their mask on.
  • Training will be limited to groups of 10 athletes. Groups must be separated while training.
  • Only Knox LAC registered athletes are permitted. Registered athletes from other little aths centres/clubs are not permitted to train with Knox at this time.
  • General public will not be permitted to enter the venue during Knox LAC training sessions.
  • There is no access to indoor areas (other than use of toilets). The pavilion and underneath the grandstand remain closed and can not be used for training.

Covid Update 10 June – Knox Athletics Track to Reopen

As everyone is aware the Victorian Government has announced the easing of covid restrictions form 11.59pm Thursday 10 June.
Knox City Council have formally advised us this afternoon that the Knox Athletics Track will reopen on Friday 11 June following the easing of restrictions.

  • Only training can resume for community sport
  • Density quotient of 1 person per 4sqm
  • A maximum venue capacity: 100 people
  • Maximum group size: 10
  • 25km limit applies.
  • Limited to the number required to participate in and facilitate activity
  • No access to indoor facilities. Access to the track is for outdoor training only. The pavilion and underneath the grandstand remain closed, other than access to retrieve equipment/first aid facilities.

We are waiting on updated advice from LAVic with regards to training protocols for sanctioned training for Metro Melbourne areas and will post updates once we have them.

Cross Country Competition Restart

We will provide advice on cross country restarting when restrictions ease further and we have a definitive restart date. The committee is working on a number of contingency plans for when the season restarts. Please look out for updated cross country information over the coming week.
