Cross Country Week 5 – Saturday 1st June – Jells Park South

Cross Country Week 5 – Knox Little Athletics Cross Country in conjunction with Waverley Little Athletics
When: Saturday the 1st of June 2024
Location: Jells Park South, Near Oaks Picnic Area, Enter via Ferntree Gully Road
Time: First race begins at 9am sharp

Race order is as follows:
1 U7 & U8 – 1000m
2. U11 & U12 – 2000m
3. U6 – 500m
4. U9 & U10 – 1500m
5. U13 – U17 – 3000m

For those wishing to trial (who are not currently members of an LAVIC Centre) – please arrive at 8.30am to collect your temporary patch from Janine our Knox Centre Registrar. Please ensure that you have registered as a trialing athlete with Little Athletics Victoria via this Trial Athlete Link.

Athletes from other centres are welcome to run with us – be sure to nominate your athlete via Results HQ. On the day ensure you have your Commonwealth Bank name patch displayed on the FRONT of your centre uniform singlet, along with the Coles sponsor patch sewn on to your singlet – without this you will not be able to compete.

Please note that athletes can only run in their registered age group (athletes CANNOT run up a distance as per the LAVIC Guidelines).

In order to run our weekly cross-country event, we do require parent volunteers. Parents are REQUIRED to complete a MINIMUM of 2 weekly duties in the Winter Cross Country season (not including Championship Day). Please sign up via the Cross Country Volunteer Sign Up.

Cross Country 2024 Update – Region Carnival and State Championships

Venues and dates have been confirmed by LAVic for the Region Cross Country Carnival and Cross Country State Championships.

EMR Carnival
Eastern Metro Region Cross Country will be held at:
Tom Kelly Reserve, Doncaster on 13th July 2024

State Cross Country Championships
The State Cross Country Championships will be held at:
Bundoora Park on Saturday 10th August.
All athletes that compete at and complete the Region Cross Country Carnival event will automatically be entered into the State Cross Country Championships.

Have Your Say – Proposed New Playground at Knox Athletics Track

With the old playground at the track being demolished last season due its age and safety concerns, Knox Council, as part of annual Capital Works Program, has proposed a new playground at the track and is now seeking community feedback on the proposal.

The proposed location is on the hill (NE Corner of the of the facility) near the 200m start.

State Cross Country Relay Championships

This is also your last chance to register your interest up to the upcoming 2024 State Cross Country Relay Championships. Be sure to contact our Team Manager Jess. Email jndux0@bigpond.com or have a chat to Jess at Cross country this Saturday. Teams are created at the discretion of our Knox Team manager and are final, no changes will be made. The State Cross-Country Relay Championships is a teams event, where 3 athletes complete a Relay over a Cross-Country course. ‍

Age Groups: U9 – U17 Athletes
Cost: $10 per athlete

U9 & U10: 3 x 1km
