Last Normal Competition For The Season – Muck up day for our U16/17 athletes and BBQ fundraiser for the RCH

This Saturday is our last normal competition for the track and field season.

It is a tradition at Knox that our U16/17 athletes dress up and cause a little bit of mayhem around the centre for the morning.

There will be prize for the best dressed up U16/17 athlete.

The challenge is set……which U16/17 can dress up the best.

BBQ Fundraiser for the Royal Children’s Hospital

It is a traditional that Knox Little Athletics supports the RCH and raises money for the appeal. This year we will be running a BBQ to raise money for the RCH Appeal. There will be plenty to buy from from the BBQ for minimum $2 donation to the RCH.

Knox Championship Day 2023 – Entires Close 16 March @ 11.59pm

The Season 2022-23 Knox Championship Day is our last Track & Field event for the season. This is a registration event and athletes choose the event that they want to compete in. Registration is online entry ONLY.

Entries Close Thursday 16th March 2023 at 11:59PM. Postal, late and on-day entries are NOT available.

When: Saturday 25th March 2023, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Athletes: Open to eligible Knox Little Athletics Centre athletes ONLY that have met the qualification requirements. You can check if you have qualified below:

Cost: $2 per event (Plus processing fee per entry ~$1.10).
U06-U11 up to 4 events. U12-U17 up to 5 events.
Payment by credit card ONLY with online entry.

Parents must do duty for either the full morning or afternoon session. Failure to do so will result in athletes being removed from events. Please do not ask for an exemption as none will be granted. If you are unable to do duty – or arrange for someone to do it for you – for the full morning or afternoon session, please do not continue with your entry as we do not want to have to remove your child/ren from events on the day.

The centre does not send this information to athletes, however a list of confirmed athletes and events may be published closer to the event.

Message from the Coaches – Training Sessions This Week Following State Champs

Following on from the Track and Field State Championships on the weekend some of our coaches have changed their coaching sessions this week.

Mike Donato – Training session as normal this week. Please note Mikes’ Junior u6-u8 – last session for the season is tonight. These session will resume in October once the new season resumes.

Mike Kerr – No training tonight. Mike will resume on Wednesday.

Nathan Dux – No training this week. Nathan is not avaliable this week due to other commitments.

David Kearsley – No Discus training tonight. Wednesday shotput will run as normal.

Steve Morris – No Long Jump Training tonight.

Fran Attard– Please check with Fran directly for training sessions this week.

Brad Krawzcyk – Please check with Brad directly for training session this week.

Knox Championship Day 2023 – Do I qualify?

The Season 2022-23 Knox Championship Day is our last Track & Field event for the season.

To qualify for Championship Day athletes must have participated in a minimum of 50% of available competition days before and after Christmas; OR if registered after Christmas, participated in a minimum of 90% of available competition days.

The qualification list will be updated following this weekends competition.

Track and Field State Championship – Important Information and Duty Roster

If you are heading to State Championships this weekend there is some important information that you will need. All families attending the state champs have been emailed by the Team Manager with all the latest information. Please check the LAVic website for any updates here:

Duty Roster
The duty roster has been finalised and can be downloaded below.

Please Note:

  • You must check in with the Team Manager at least 15mins prior to your scheduled duty time.
  • Parent duty at State Championships is compulsory. No Execptions
  • Parents must complete their duty at the allotted time. There will be little chance of making changes. Any complete duty swapping must be done amongst yourselves. Please advise the Team Manager ASAP of any changes to duty.
  • Knox LAC does enforce the policy that any family that does not turn up for duty, or complete their duty, their child will be withdrawn from their events at State Championships and/or not qualify for Knox Championship Day.

If for any reason your athlete will not be participating in State Championships – please notify Janine Kearsley (Team Manager) immediately at registrar@klac23.org.au

Please read the athlete information booklet. It has the relevant information regarding events for the weekend.

Things to note:

  • All athletes must check in with the Team Manager before competing
  • All logos on black shorts bigger than a 50c piece need to be covered up with black tape. Please do this before arriving at the track
  • Coles patches must be sewn on above the LaVic logo on the Knox top. We will have needle and thread for those that have it in the wrong spot, or not sewn on at all.
  • Commonwealth Bank name patches must be worn. Please remember to bring this. We will not be able to print a new on on the day.
  • You must let the Team Manager know if you intend to scratch from an event.
  • The Team Manager is aware of clashes. Please check with the Team Manager as to which event you need to marshal at first, as the rules have changed this year depending on the clash.
  • Please check the final timetable. It is your responsibility to check when your child events are on with the latest time table.
  • Enclosed shoes must be worn when doing duty. No thongs please.
  • Please make sure you have a mask, as you may be required to wear it at any stage, especially if doing duty.
  • The Knox table will be set up at the top of the grandstand approximately midway along the the front straight.

Call rooms and Marshalling

Track Call Room will be located near the start line of the 100m. Call will open 30mins piror to event and close 20mins prior to the event. Please be at the call room 30mins prior to your event start time.
Field Events have 4 different marshal points. Athletes will be called to assemble at one of the marshalling points. Please be at the marshal area 20mins prior to the event start time.
Marshal point 1 – Long jump, High Jump and Discus 1 – 1500m start line
Marshal point 2 – Discus 2, outside warm up track near cage
Marshal point 3 – Javelin and Triple Jump – 200m start line
Marshal point 4 – Shot Put 1 and 2, at warm up ring, outside near gate 1

Venue Access and Entry
Entry to the venue is free all weekend.
Both Gate 1 & 2, will open at 7.00am both days.
Note – The Grand Prix set up has commenced and parking maybe effected.
