Message from the Knox Coaches – Christmas Break

In the lead up to Christmas, the Knox LAC coaches would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every athlete who’s taken part in any of our coaching sessions throughout this year.

With the summer holidays fast approaching everyone is getting ready to take a well-earned break for a few weeks.

Dates below have been provided by the coaches; however, athletes/families should contact the individual event coaches to confirm their last sessions in 2023 and a resumption of coaching in Jan 2024.

Nathan Dux
Sprints – Last Session Fri 13th Dec 2023 – Resumes Wed 10th Jan 2024

Mike Donato
Juniors/Sprints/Throws – Last Session Weds 20th Dec 2023 – Resume Mon 8th Jan 2024
Note – 17th Jan 2024 – Special training session for combined event athletes. This will be replacing Mikes’s normal sprints throws sessions – this is open to athletes heading to LAVic Combined Event in Jan.

Hurdles – Last Session Sun 17th Dec 2023 – Resumes Sun 7th Jan 2024

Walks – Last Session Thurs 21st Dec 2023 – Resumes Tuesday 9th Jan 2024.

Steve Morris
Long/Triple Jump – Last Session Mon 18th Dec 2023 – Resumes Mon 8th Jan 2024

Alan Louey
High Jump – Last Session Wed 20th Dec 2023 – Resumes Wed 10th Jan 2024. Alan will not be available for 31 Jan, 7 Feb or 14 Feb. We will endeavour to have someone cover these session while Alan is away.

Brad Krawczyk
High/ Long Jump – Coaching Through – Please check with Brad directly for dates.
Please note: Juniors – The 4pm Session is having a break due to work commitments.
No High jump on 11th December and will resuming on the 18th December.

Weather Update – Athletics is Cancelled

Due to the weather, and that the track is unsafe for a few of the events, the decision has been made to cancel the program today (2nd December 2023).

We will see everyone next week for the Knox Twilight Open Day on the 9th December 2023.

Training Sessions Tonight – Weather Update

With the current weather system with rain , high winds and possible storms passing through the we are monitoring the weather to ensure the safety of our athletes.

Updates for the following training sessions:

High Jump – High Jump with Alan will not go ahead.

Sprints / Relays with Nathan Dux has been cancelled.

Shotput training with Dave Kearsley will be assessed closer to 5pm

For other training sessions tonight please check with the individual coaches as they may modify /cancel training sessions to suit the weather conditions or condition of the track to be able to conduct training safely.

Working Bee – 3rd December 2023

With the upcoming Knox Twilight Open Day on the 9th December, it’s time to get our hands dirty again and get the track ready for the Open Day.

Details
When: 3 December 2023
Time: 10am to 12pm

Bring your own tools (shovel, rakes, pruning shears etc., blowers, line trimmers, edgers etc. (petrol power is preferred)

Jobs include:
General cleaning up
Weeding of the jump pits, shotput area and gardens
Tidying up the Mini Olympics jump pit
Tidying and whipper snipping around the track
Pruning and cleaning up presentation area.

Refund: This will be the last chance this season for Families to receive a working bee levy refund of $30 – just remember to sign in and sign out on the day.

EMR Relays 2023 – Information, Timetable and Duty Roster

When: Saturday 18 November 2023
8:30am – first race
Arrive at least 1 hour before your first race to Check in with the Team Manager, find your Coach/Relay Team & warm up.

Where: Morrison Reserve, 30 Burdap Drive, Mt Evelyn
Please note: There is a good amount of car parking at the venue and surrounding facilities – however please allow enough time to park and walk to the track.

Families involved in EMR relays have been emailed the latest information from the Knox Team Manager – Please check your emails

Event Information, Timetable and duty roster can be downloaded below:

The roster has been setup so that each family will do similar amounts of time on duty. Please note your duty and time and ensure that you report to our Team Manager 15 minutes before the start of your duty time. As the duty roster is set, there will be little chance of changing it. 

Please note: Parent duty at EMR Relays is compulsory.

Parents must complete their duty at the allotted time. There will be little chance of making changes.

Knox LAC does enforce the policy that any family that does not turn up for duty, or complete their allotted duty, their child will be withdrawn from competition and take no further part.

Anyone doing duty must wear enclosed footwear

Uniform: Knox Centre Top and Black Shorts (No Pockets) must be worn with Commonwealth Bank Name Patch and Coles patch sewn on in right hand corner.
There is a call room, and uniform checks will be under taken.
Please DO NOT FORGET your name patch. We will not have the facilities to provide a new patch on the day.

All athletes to check in with the Team Manager before your first race

Knox will have plenty of tents set up. Parents and family members should setup under the blue tents at the rear. Please leave the Knox tents along the front for the relay teams and coaches.
