Welcome to Week 1 Saturday 26Sep

Welcome to the start of the Knox Little Athletics Centre Track and Field season for 2015-16.

We have a big day planned this Saturday with issuing of patches and show bags, track and field events, opening ceremony, and special guests!

Registrations

Returning athletes must register before 6pm this Wednesday 23 September to compete on Saturday.

If you competed last season and arrive at the track on Saturday without having registered by the deadline on Wednesday night you will not be able to participate. Please register online with Little Athletics Victoria to avoid disappointment. This rule is being applied for all centres across Victoria.

New athletes who have registered online can collect registration bags and competition patches from your club.

New athletes who have not registered online will receive a temporary patch from the Knox registration tent.

The Knox Registration tent is available from 8am, for clubs to collect patches and registration bags and for new members to obtain a temporary patch.

Patches and show bags

Athletes who have completed their registration (including payment) can collect their patch and show bag from their club from 8am on Saturday morning.

To ensure your patch and show bag is ready, please register and pay online by 6pm this Wednesday 23 September.

IMPORTANT: All athletes must wear a new 2015-16 patch to participate in events. You will not be able to participate with a patch from last year.

Track and Field events

Program B: For events by age group, please see the list of events.

All events start at 8:30am this week.
U11-U15 athletes will not have an 8am start for Walks and Long Hurdles.

Please note: Events may not be called in the order they appear on the program.

Opening ceremony

There will be a break from events at 9:45am, ready for the Opening Ceremony to commence at 10:00am.

During the opening ceremony, athletes march down the front straight with their club before sitting quietly on the track for the official opening of the season.

We are pleased to have life members and special guests including the Chief Executive Officers from Little Athletics Australia and Little Athletics Victoria. The Knox Mayor and Knox City Councillors will also be attending.

We’ve also invited Peppa Pig who will try to make time in her busy schedule to make an appearance.

Sporting apparel

Diadora and Safelace will have sporting apparel available for purchase. Please check out their great specials and support our sponsors.

Restricted access to track

This Sunday 27 September from 8:45am to 3:20pm, Little Athletics Victoria are conducting an Introduction to Coaching Course (ITCC) at Knox Park.

While the course is being conducted, please continue to use the track but do not interfere with the program.

Seeking Timing Operators

Interested in learning how to operate photo finish timing this season?

The job itself is not particularly hard to do but it does help if you are somewhat computer literate, and attention to detail is a must.

Full training will be given and new operators are teamed up with an experienced operator to learn the ropes.

For more info, please contact Linda Smit at timing@klac23.org.au or on 0409 976 388.
