Change of Competition Date – National Day of Mourning Public Holiday

The additional public holiday next Thursday for the National Day of Mourning for the Queen creates a four day long weekend and there is an expectation that more families are likely to take some time away over the extra long weekend.

The Executive Committee has been fielding enquires from families about whether the scheduled Friday night meet on 23rd September will go ahead as planned or not.

The Executive Committee remains committed to ensuring that as many competition weekends are undertaken at the Knox track prior to the proposed upgrades works starting later in the season.

Therefore the Executive Committee has determined that:

Competition will still go ahead
Friday Twilight meet scheduled for 23d September, will move to Sunday 25th starting at 3pm.
It will remain Program A.

This will allow families to take some time away over the extra long weekend, and athletes still have the opportunity to compete on the Sunday.

We recognise this won’t suit all families that already have planned holidays and may required clubs to adjust duty rosters to suit Sunday competition but the Executive Committee feels this is best opportunity to provide athletes the chance to compete over the long weekend.
