With the upcoming track and field season due to start on 9th September its time to get our track ready for the season with our first working bee.
Details
When: 27 August 2023 Time: 10am to 12pm
Bring your own tools (shovel, rakes, pruning shears etc., blowers, line trimmers, edgers etc. (petrol power is preferred)
Jobs include: General cleaning up Weeding of the jump pits, shotput area and gardens Tidying up the mini olympics jump pit Tidying and whipper snipping around the track Pruning and cleaning up presentation area.
Refund: Families that attend the working bee and register for the season will receive a working bee levy refund of $30 – just remember to sign in and sign out for the working bee.
As we move from Cross Country to the Track and Field Season for 2023/24 – our coaches are planning for the upcoming season.
Preseason training will start on 7 August 2023 following the completion of our cross country Season.
While some of our coaches have started preseason for specific squad members. Initial start dates for our coaches is detailed below.
Middle Distance – Mike Kerr – From August 7 – Mondays and Wednesdays from 4.30pm (Note Mike will be finishing cross country training)
Sprints/ Throws – Mike Donato – Mondays (Sprints), Wednesdays (Sprints and Throws) – from 5pm. Sundays 8.30am (Throws). As Mike has already started preseason please contact Mike directly.
Junior Fundamental Development – Mike Donato – Mondays 4-5pm from October.
Sprints – Nathan Dux – Mondays (From 25th September) and Wednesdays (From 16th August) from 4.45pm – U9 to U17 Athletes only – Nathan will be on leave from September 10 -20 September
Throws – Dave Kearsley – Starting 7 August – Mondays (Discus) and Wednesdays (Shotput) from 5.15pm
Hurdles – Stephen Hough and Steve Morris – Start Date TBC – Thursdays from 5pm
Long / Triple Jump – Steve Morris – Mondays 4.30pm from 2nd September – Please note: Steve will be away on leave from 12 September to 15 October.
High Jump – Alan Louey – Wednesdays 5 to 6pm From Wednesday 30th September
High Jump/Long Jump/Sprints – Brad Krawczyk – Mondays 4pm – 5pm (High Jump) and (gym – selected athletes only). Tuesdays From 5pm (Sprints and horizontal jumps, and gym – selected athletes only), Thursdays From 5pm (Sprints and Hurdles). Please note Tuesday and Thursday are part of Knox Seniors Training sessions – Please Contact Brad directly.
Walks – Fran Attard – Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5.30pm – 7pm (Please contact Fran before attending)
If you wish to start training for track and field please contact the specific coach directly. Please note – coaches reserve the right to limit group sizes where safety, control, equipment & varying ages and skill differences become issues.
Specialist clinics will be run early in the season for U11 Athletes for javelin and block starts. Further information will be posted in these clinics.
With the cross country season coming to a close, Knox Little Athletics Centre invites all Knox athletes and their families to the KLAC Cross Country Presentation Night 2023.

With the Summer Track and Field Season almost upon us Knox LAC is pleased to announce that our season will formally start on 9 September 2023.
With proposed track up upgrade still on the radar we are starting early again this year to get as many weeks as we can in before the works begin.
The registration portal for season 2023/24 will open following the completion of the current Cross Country Season. Please check our website and Facebook page for updates.

The Executive Committee has drafted the calendar with the following key dates for the start of season.
Mid August 2023-24 Season Registration Portal Opens August 27 – Working Bee September 2 – Chiefs Officials Training, Preseason Comp and Try Out Day September 9 – Week 1 – Program A
