The executive committee would like to congratulate Fran Attard and her race walking squad on another successful EMR championship last weekend. 19 of the 117 Knox medals were won by race walkers coached by Fran. This includes 11 gold from 14 races whilst every age group was represented by a Knox athlete (except one) which is an outstanding achievement by Fran and the dedicated race walking squad she coaches.
Fran has achieved these results by coaching the squad five times a week including four week nights and Sunday mornings. Fran has time off on Friday nights when she sits at home reviewing training times and prepares for weekend competition. Fran also attends Little Aths and Knox Seniors every week which keeps her busy most Saturdays.
Alan Johnson, Knox Athletics Centre life member (1973) coached Fran as a young athlete also assists Fran by coaching the very popular Knox race walking squad was seen watching the kids at EMR at the weekend. I’m sure Alan is also very proud of Fran and her squad.
Congratulations to Fran and the Knox race walkers! Keep up the great work, we’re sure the training will be in full swing leading up to State. Good luck!
