Coaching Update For The Winter Season

Now that the summer season of athletics is over & cross country winter season has started, weekly event coaching at the centre mostly stops except as noted:

Mike Kerr (‭0433 281 212‬ / coppermouse1@hotmail.com– continues training right through winter for cross country & middle distance.
Fran Attard (0407 776 181‬ / walkerfran@bigpond.com.au) – recommences walks coaching on 9 April & goes right through to the start of the season.
Mike Donato (0414 888 563 / coach@klac.org.au) – sprints, throws & fitness starts up 6th May & goes right through to the start of the season.

Pls contact these coaches directly prior to attending training for the first time as they sometimes coach off site.

Jumps & hurdles start up again closer to the summer season commencement in September. If coaches start back early we will advise on the web site.

With changes in the age cut-off we are planning to expand our pre-season coaching to athletes eligible for new events. In 2018/19 we will be running coaching clinics for 4 weeks starting just before & over lapping the competition season:
 – transition from standing start to block starts for U12’s (Mike Donato & U12 relay coaches)
 – introduction to javelin for U11’s (Dave Kearsley)
 – transition from scissor kick to flop high jump for U11’s (Rob Monteath)
 – introduction to triple jump for U11’s (Steve Morris)
 – introduction to hurdles for U8’s (Stephen Hough & Steve Morris)
These clinics are also open to older KLAC athletes who may wish to refresh & improve their technique, but these sessions are primarily focused on athletes new to these events as per the above listed ages.
See you at the track!
