Knox Little Athletics Centre Inc.

The forecast temperature for Melbourne and suburbs this Saturday is expected to reach 40 deg and remain high into the night. As a result, the Knox Little Athletics centre has cancelled the Knox Open Day to ensure we comply with the extreme hot weather policy and consider the safety of athletes and officials.

At this stage re-scheduling is unlikely, therefore entry fees will be reimbursed. Knox Little Athletics apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

As a result of the total fire ban and the event being cancelled, the fireworks has also been cancelled.

We would like to thank the organisers who put in hours of work organising the event and we know they will be disappointed as a result of not running. We also understand there may be disappointed athletes who were looking forward to participating in this popular event.

The centre is holding an extraordinary meeting tomorrow night to determine the way forward for Saturdays meet.

They expect to have made a decision by around 8pm tomorrow 7Feb.
This decision will be shared on the website and Facebook accordingly.

The Knox Relay For Life is back again in 2014 and will be held on Saturday March 29th (starting at 4pm) and Sunday 30th (concluding at 10am) at the Knox Athletic Track, Bunjil Way, Knoxfield.

The Knox Relay For Life is a great opportunity for the local community to come together for an event to raise money for the Cancer Council of Victoria (CCV) and also remember those lost to cancer, celebrate with those who have beaten cancer and support those undergoing treatment.

This weekends weather and it’s affect on the program is being actively discussed by the exec and the centre’s community.

The exec will continue to monitor temperatures up to and during the day, and make a call on the day as to further modification and/or continuation of the program.
