{"id":236,"date":"2013-09-20T14:30:03","date_gmt":"2013-09-20T03:30:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/klac23.org.au\/wordpress\/?page_id=236"},"modified":"2026-08-03T15:43:10","modified_gmt":"2026-08-03T05:43:10","slug":"knox-uniforms","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/klac23.org.au\/wordpress\/?page_id=236","title":{"rendered":"Uniforms"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>What do athletes need to wear and when?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Club uniform<\/strong> is worn during normal, weekly centre events in summer. Club singlet with with black shorts or leggings. See the <a title=\"Clubs\" href=\"http:\/\/klac23.org.au\/wordpress\/?page_id=32\">Clubs<\/a> page.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Centre uniform<\/strong> (singlet, crop or t-shirt with black shorts or leggings) must be worn when representing the centre at other centres (eg open days), regional or state competitions. Tops can be purchased from the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Uniform Shop<\/span>. Also see <strong>LAVic regulations<\/strong> below. Please do not wear the centre uniform at normal summer meets.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Number patches<\/strong> must be worn. Knox has a policy of &#8216;no patch, no participate&#8217;. Replacement patches are available for a gold coin. Subsequent replacement patches will be $5 per patch. (All money collected for replacement patches is donated to RCH). We need this so we record results with the correct athlete.  Special patches may be issued for regional carnivals and state championships, particularly relays.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Supporter gear<\/strong> can be worn when training, warming up and\u00a0spectating. However athletes need to be in the correct uniform when competing, with athlete number visible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Winter Cross-country<\/strong>. As other centres join in our weekly cross-country events, both the club and centre uniforms are permitted.  Like in summer, centre uniform is required for regional and state events.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Shoes<\/strong> should be comfy for running and jumping, but don&#8217;t need to be fancy. Ages u11+ may use spiked shoes in specific events &#8211; see <a href=\"https:\/\/klac23.org.au\/wordpress\/?page_id=15087\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"15087\">Guide to Buying and Using Spikes<\/a>. This simplifies the old process and helps to ensure we&#8217;ve got sufficient stock on hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Black shorts or leggings<\/strong> &#8211; we don&#8217;t supply these as black shorts can be bought at shops.  They must be plain and black.  Allowed 1 manufacturer logo up to 40cm\u00b2 (e.g. 8cmx5cm, 4cmx10cm etc) and no other markings.  May have pockets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It can be a little challenging to find shorts that actually meet these branding rules, but these rules are normally well enforced at regional and state competitions.  Cannot have any extra logos (eg AFL club, school name, a 2nd manufacturer logo, sponsor, etc) or constrast piping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"regs\"><strong>LAVic Regulations (per the LAVic uniform booklet)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For 2026\/27 it is no longer permitted to tape over logos or to fold clothes to cover logos. The flip-side is that logos are now permitted to be larger than before, the same size as permitted under World Athletics rules. Also, shorts may have pockets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The following is cut&#8217;n&#8217;pasted from (about half of) Rule 143 of the <a href=\"https:\/\/lavic.com.au\/competition\/rules-and-regulations\/\">2025\/26 competition rules<\/a>.  See the link for more details if need be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All athletes competing at sanctioned competitions must wear a uniform which conforms to the standards as defined in the <a href=\"https:\/\/lavic.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Competition-Rules-2025-2026-V9.0-02.10.25.pdf\">2025\/26 LAVic Centre Uniform booklet<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Uniforms must not carry any unapproved branding larger than 40cm\u00b2 (e.g. 8cmx5cm, 4cmx10cm etc).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Athletes may wear undergarments underneath their approved uniform.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Undergarment bottoms (leggings or bike shorts) must be the same colour as the approved Centre shorts or beige or white or black. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Undergarment tops (long sleeve or t-shirts) must be the same colour as the approved Centre top or black or white.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Athletes may wear leggings of any length as an outer garment except in Race Walking events (see point 7 below) or where they impinge on the safety of the athlete in the event. If worn, they must be plain and the same colour as the approved Centre shorts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In seated throws, clothing must be close fitting so that the view of the Judges is not impeded.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For Winter Season competitions only, plain black leggings may be worn in lieu of the approved Centre shorts colour (one manufacturer logo up to 40cm\u00b2 allowed).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For Race Walking events, unless approval has been obtained from the Competition Director and\/or Track Referee (in consultation with the Chief Walks Judge), all uniform bottoms must be above the knee. If, due to Religious, Medical or other exceptional circumstances, athletes cannot wear uniform bottoms that finish above the knee, they can apply for approval of an alternative option. Each application will be considered on a case by case basis and any approved option must not impede the view of the judges.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shorts with pockets are permitted. Loose pockets are not recommended.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All shorts and leggings must be worn to cover the hipbones.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Socks if worn, can be of any length, colour or pattern, however they cannot cover the knee or be objectionable. The organising body will determine their suitability.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The organising body may provide lane\/team identification where necessary, e.g. lane numbers, wrist bands or other identification.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Failure to comply with uniform standards may result in an athlete being disqualified.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Footwear is compulsory for all athletes in all events<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Coles patch<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Coles patch still needed for 2026 State Cross-country Championships.
