A letter from the President

To all Knox Athletes & Families,

Here we are again the night before the first competition of the Summer Track & Field Season 2024-25. This Season will be very different to other years as we will be away from our home whilst the Knox track redevelopment project is being complete.

Ringwood will be our Competition home for this Summer season, we are extremely grateful to Ringwood Little Athletics Centre for hosting us. Both Ringwood and Knox Committees have been working hard over the winter to prepare for the Season and looking forward to seeing all athletes mixing together.

We are joining in Ringwood’s competition programs, you will experience some differences to our normal programs but that’s ok, we need to remind ourselves that we’re lucky to be able to compete at a track this Season. A major difference is that Ringwood don’t have results tickets for field events but there are tickets for track races. Once you complete your field event you will not receive a ticket, if your little athlete doesn’t remember their results please reassure them the Results will still go to ResultsHQ and you can view them once they’re uploaded.

Ringwood are moving away from an Age Group Manager structure to a Chief Official model like ours. We will be helping their transition to this model so please keep in mind they will be adjusting not only to Knox joining in competition, but also to how their competition runs. There is limited parking available next to the track, you will be able to park in the nearby streets and walk to the track. Please be aware of any parking signs and be considerate to those who live in the houses around the track.

For our time at Ringwood, please remember we are ‘Joining In’, we’re not there to take over, we’re not there to tell them how to do anything, or that we do things better. Ringwood can, if they want, refuse to continue hosting us as a Centre so please, if you see or hear any negative behaviour or commentary please speak with one of the Knox Executive Committee. We only want to see and hear about positive behaviour throughout the season.

For our first competition tomorrow, Saturday 5th October, the day will most certainly be a challenge and not just on the weather front. Any returning families we hope that you can assist in any way possible to help us make the day go even a little bit smoother. For returning athletes, welcome back, please head directly to the second Grandstand closest to the 100m start on the front straight (otherwise known as the ‘Cadbury End’), meet your Club representatives and collect your Patches.

New Athletes, Trialling Athletes – welcome to Little Athletics! On your entry into the Ringwood track, please make your way to the right and head underneath the Pavilion towards the Knox teardrops and tents to check in. Before being directed to the ‘Knox Grandstand’ where you will meet your Club Representatives.

We will be required to assist with Duties through the Season as per normal, our Chief’s will also be required and over the course of the season will teach and Shadow the new Ringwood Chiefs. The Duty Sign in table will be in the entry way to the track just like Knox, so please ensure you put your name down and complete duties throughout the Season. Our collective expectation for duties is a 50/50 split between Ringwood and Knox families.

Training has started this week, please check out the Training page for all information regarding training times and days.
Relay Training will start from this Sunday 6th October, please view the Relay page for information, contact your Relay Coach and ensure you complete the Online Relay Enrolment Form.

We’re very much looking forward to the Summer Track & Field Season 2024-25, we’re very appreciative of Ringwood LAC for allowing us to join in their competitions. We are also extremely excited to see the completion of the Knox Track redevelopment and getting back home.

See you at the Track.

Susan Kindler
President
