From the Executive Committee – Track Refurbishment – Update No. 4

The Executive Committee has been made aware that Knox Council has delayed the refurbishment works for the track. Refurbishment works to the track are now unlikely to occur before June this year.

While it is disappointing that Council has had to delay the project, they do remain committed to the refurbishment of the track and we continue to keep working with the Council to ensure that the project does keep moving forward.

Council has advised that the tenders for the proposed work have been reviewed and unfortunately they do not meet the budget requirements for Council. This means that Council will now go through a redesign process and re-tender the project later in the year.

There has been further discussions with Council in the last couple of weeks and we are waiting for Council to provide updated scope of works. The Knox Board of Management on behalf of KLAC, has put forward some options for Council to consider including timing for the works to limit disruptions on our 2023/24 track and field season.
